3 days in Elk Ridge/Waskesiu with the Woodley family. The golf course at Elk Ridge is great - we played a couple days, and enjoyed time on the beach at Waskesiu.
Then I hung out at the gas station on the highway for a little while until some friends picked me up to head further north canoeing. It was a great trip this year. New country - saw some rock paintings (although the cree word for them translates more as 'writings') at Larocque Lake.
We didn't leave the traditional tobacco offering - but I did leave my sunglasses. (Doh!) There's no precise date on them - but early european explorers document them - so that puts them at least a few hundred years old.

Hi Adam,
There is nothing being done by authorities. The only way to get to the cliffs is by a float-plane, or by a difficult canoe trip. The short way by canoe is a lot of portage trails, the long way is about 50 km of paddling.
I doubt 100 people see these paintings a year.
Wow those must have been some sunglasses, a few hundred years old, did you inherit them from your place in a lineage of explorers...oh you meant the paintings...
HI adam,
just some late night surfing lead me to you.
I was up North with tOM canoeing a couple weeks back, was great with his three kids and our two dogs.
