I was in saskatoon for Rev. M.J. Hindmarsh's funeral. This was a great tribute to a good life. There was a number of other clergy, great tributes from the family, and an especially powerful video of his 90th birthday where his son (who died six months after the video was made) sang a song to his dad talking about calvary and God's love. After the song, Rev. Hindmarsh prayed for his family and it served as the benediction for the service.
It was great. What a powerful image of faithfulness his life was - of Christ's strength that gives you peace and power to serve to the end. He was 96 and it became especially clear to me in hearing about his life after retirement (retired around 75) that this man was truly a minister of God's grace as he was known to be in communion with God very much - and it was clear how he did minister that grace to others.
