Saturday night I have an interview that is included in my journey towards ordination in the Free Methodist Church in Canada. Dennis Camplin will be a part of the interview team so I'm crossing my fingers that there'll be good coffee as part of the agenda.

Through the last weeks I've wondered about and honestly struggled with the thought of pursuing some opportunities outside the denomination. I never thought looking beyond our denomination would be a struggle as there are many similar strains of our theological understanding and perspective. It came down to a feeling of kinship that I have developed within the FMCiC crew. Although I know and realize there are high quality people in many (other) churches, I sure enjoy being a part of the networks that I've grown up in and grown into.
The theology is good, the structure is good, the vision is right on and the leadership is top notch. What else am I looking for?
All that being said, there have also been many vibrant opportunities afforded to me in this denomination - and I'm looking forward to the not so distant opportunities in the future.

I understand about denomination "loyalty". I really like my denomination too and can't see myself leaving it anytime soon. For 3 years, I kept bugging people about starting a MB church out where I live so we wouldn't have the 30 minute highway (100 km) drive and now they have (it's only a 5 minute normal drive now).

Just wanted to send a word of encouragement. And I hope the interview went well. :-)
