getting skooled

I've been in touch with my ole' school talking about finishing my degree up. I've got 9 or 10 classes to complete and I'm shooting to get them done in 12 mos.

One of my prof's, Gerald Cressman called me last night to discuss a class. In his early years of ministry he planted a church in Estevan (in the P.A.O.C) that saw a number of my family on the Beach side become active members in.

We were on a short-term mission trip to Israel and he told me the story of knocking on doors one Sunday afternoon to introduce himself to the community. It ended up being superbowl Sunday so a number of doors were closed in his face - near the end of the road he had a few more houses to do - he came to my Aunt Fern's house. Introducing himself as a Pentecostal minister new to the community Auntie Fern yelled, "hallelujah" and pulled him inside for a visit and some refreshment. Mr. Cressman told me it was a welcome change to some of the response he had recieved. Aunt Fern loved the PAOC - specifically the emphasis on missions and the global mindset. Although I never met her, two points stand out in stories about her: her love of missions, and the enormous gold fish she had... apparently her basement was full of bathtubs that had big, bad gold fish in them.

Anyway - looking forward to the learning - hope I can get a couple classes done this summer.
