Images
Thinking on life and things that move me - I would have to say video and the visual image has a powerful influence in my life. Movies, pictures, art... video is just a dynamic medium.
Pictures like waterfalls, canyons, mountains, little kids, sunsets, animals (and animal's kid's), whatever - images lead me to profound (at least self-proclaimed "profound") thoughts on experience, other-worldness, the sort of Satori - enlightenment stuff that brings a chill, or suddenly makes you break a sweat... that sense of Haiku - nostalgia, or awe that reminds me of the incredible otherness or beyondness that exists in the mundane, everyday, by-and-by creation that we take part in...
What kind of images do you find yourself captivated with? What moves you in your private and public life? I guess there is always a double edge to the gift and power of vision -
Interesting that the thing that moves me most powerfully is the very thing we were created as... an image... of God. We have the opportunity to be renewed in that image more and more.
Interesting too that we draw much of our inspiration in faith to the Incarnate Image of God - His Son among us. Things got a little more clear for us when we could lay our eyes on a model - when we got a picture of what a life surrendered fully to the Father really looks like.
What kind of image am I - how inspiring - how captivating is the image of Christ in me? What do the pictures people see of my life add up to?
