hey adam my name is angel roberts im 16 yrs old and im meakwaki and ho chunj i watch all ur movies and i love them all!! im a good actor tooo... well g2g ur biggest fan
I must admit I didn't know you from pardon the pun Adam, I have seen some of your work ,but the name and the person didn't connect for me.
But, I am someone who is very interested in theology, and all forms of religion, so your post talking about ordination was interesting to me.
Your discussion about the neaming of a label raised some interesting questions, for instance when you spoke of the educational and theological requirements for ordination, I thought it was ironice that a person surfing the net could become an ordained minister in 2 minutes flat. The church is nondenonminational and open to any person who chooses to use it. Including myself, although it gives you the title, it is not necessarily recgonized all over.
I should say that, I love a good discussion and anything I do say is meant only in the interest of learning and philisophical exploration.
It was curious what your "denomination exec." shared with you "he stated that the essence of ordination (my paraphrase) as he sees it is a public 'vow' to serve ....... the sense I got from him is that many people can serve in ministry, but to serve in leadership takes a public affirmation, and an empowerment that's given from the people - and seen as being a ministry gift from God."
What struck me was the sense of although it has a spiritual perspecive in essence it is a popularity contest, even if you believe in divine callings you still need man to affirm what you "already" know....as well, why is it that it has to be gifted to you by men (although I am assuming that women do not fulfill any pastoral roles here). I guess the comment about public recognition bothers me, because I remember being taught about the direction to worship in the closet and not in the public square..(gist of anyway). If you know you were born to be a spiritual leader why would you need the permission of men? Do you think that the reality is that it is a political machinism that maintains the power and oppression of the larger community. Kind of like saying we all do the work, but only a few that we chose get the recognition to lead.
anyway like I said I am a religious buff and thought your post was interesting..
