mt. yamnuska

This was a great hike. Cruised out there solo on monday to have a look at the hike after some friends recommended it. It was time well spent - the area comes well recommended. Here are some shots of the front of the south face - I hiked up the east side and traversed across, coming down on the west side.

Some of the views were stunning. There seems to be a bit of a haze - it sort of smelled like smoke although I saw no other signs of fire. The south face of Yamnuska is a popular climbing spot. Over the north side - the picture in which the mt. declines to a sharp point - is a
popular spot to camp and do day hikes to some of the other summits.

The back side heading over to the western decline has an amazing scree run. I've never actually cruised down scree - but I ran top speed making big jumps along the way. It was crazy fun. Check out the visible trail - it was difficult to get lost. My legs were like jelly on the way down - but my spirit was at ease.

Plus I made a friend
