I was thinking about how left behind the car industry is in the digital age. With devices like bluetooth (a wireless component installed in many cellphones, pda's, computers and other electronic devices) that are able to communicate with each other - your car should know you're approaching it and unlock, even start if the settings were available. Bluetooth enabled devices are equipped with usernames and passwords - so there wouldn't be any security threat from other users.
One could sync music with your car - or even if your home was equipped as well - let your family know that you're pulling into the driveway. A small touchscreen cpu running on palm or windows would be great in the dash. I'm sure they have it available - for big bucks - but I'm talking about seeing a deal made between car manufacturers and palm - the company onstar has gps navigation and hands-free cellular service - this is a good start.
