Perhaps in response to my desire to travel - I went to return some library books from Briercrest. On the way there I picked up a hitch-hiker who looked frigid and tired. I was only able to take him a short distance - but I figured the warm up would be nice.
We chatted about things - he was vague - so was I... He was going "west" - how far, I don't know - but he had come from T.O. I told him that just the other day I as thinking of travelling and commented on how I was a little envious. He replied that he hadn't slept more than 8 hrs. in five days - and didn't know how much longer his body would keep going as he had walked the high-way for the last 24 hours.
I stopped being a little envious. Hitchhiking is fine - but when it's -20 with a windchill - it's less of a journey, more of survival.
